Abstract
In this two-hour pre-conference workshop, World Language Specialist for Houghton Mifflin, Dr. LeeAnn Stone, and Laurel Miller, Senior Content Manager for World Languages, will guide participants through the steps involved in moving from idea to published product.

The workshop will be divided into three segments focusing on the business of publishing (including the market, opportunities and positioning), the process (researching, clarifying project concept, creating the proposal, and bringing the project to market) and the people (the editors, developmental editors, marketers and others who are involved in the process).

Participants will gain enough information about the publishing process to be able to confidently approach publishers with their prospectuses and knowledgeably navigate through the subsequent path to publication. Questions and discussions will be entertained throughout this session.

Note that although this workshop is presented by Houghton Mifflin, the process that will be outlined and discussed applies to preparation for any college world language publishing proposal.
